I chose a minimalistic approach inspired by. the simple lines of 1960’s Mid Century Modern design. I wanted to stay true to the original show, but also create a fun new look as well. The focal scenic backdrop is a curtain of almost 800 silver Hairspray cans that add a bit of whimsy and texture that changed throughout the show with different lighting and projection effects. Many elements were flown in throughout the show to define the multiple staging areas needed for the Cast.
